Kicking off my journey with the Umbraco Junior Development Program

The start of my journey with the Umbraco Junior Development program

I’ve officially reached my goal of becoming a Certified Umbraco Professional before turning 16. This is something I’ve been working toward since the day I started, and hitting that milestone feels like a big step forward.

It’s more than just a title this represents the effort I’ve put into learning how Umbraco works under the hood, how to build properly with it, and how to support real world projects. Getting certified has helped solidify what I already knew, and it’s given me more confidence to take on bigger challenges.

I started working at Simon Antony Ltd - Umbraco Silver Partner Agency at the start of July, and every day since then I've been working my way through courses and certificates, doing small off-loaded client jobs, and learning new things every day. Last week however was completely different, as I took on the challenge of becoming a Certified Umbraco Professional as an initial first step towards becoming a Certified Umbraco Expert, all part of the Umbraco Junior Development Program.

Now I am going to focus on preparing myself for the next courses to becoming a Certified Expert which are:
- Extending the Backoffice
- Umbraco and MVC
- Application Integration
-Security

These courses will allow me to understand and utilise Umbraco to the fullest extent, and help out with any work for Simon Steed and Sharon Steed.

I am grateful for the opportunity to complete all of these courses, as I have only just left school and am only a junior software engineer. Furthermore, Frederik Klerens from Umbraco's specialist team has given me access to the courses to become a Certified Umbraco Master via the junior development program, which normally only takes you to become a Certified Umbraco Expert, so I am extremely grateful for this.

Throughout my journey so far, the team at umbraco has been incredibly helpful, and i will be joining an online meeting and webinar with them and many others nearing the end of the month, which should be very helpful and allow me to further increase my knowledge and skill within the Umbraco ecosystem.

I will continue to update everyone with how my journey is going with these blog posts and on my LinkedIn, so if you would like to be updated throughout my journey then make sure to follow me on LinkedIn and keep your eye out for these blog posts!
